First of all, here's what we have for you this week:
- The Ls of the Year: The Most Remarkable Journalism in 2025 - By Lamestream.
- The Good Ones: The best journalism, opinion and entertainment for you to enjoy.
We’re ending this week on a bit of a high here at Lamestream HQ, having just wrapped up our first-ever live events.
Across Sydney and Melbourne, nearly 200 Lamestream supporters came along to join our end-of-year celebration and awards night. We shared some highlights from the past seven months, since we launched Lamestream, shared some of the work we are the most proud of, had some fun, and serious, conversations about the latest in media news, and answered some super sharp and interesting questions.
Thank you to everyone who came along – it was genuinely so rewarding and inspiring to meet so many people who appreciate and support our work. The fact that in just over half a year, we’ve been able to build something that not only fills an important gap in the Australian media landscape but also is helping build a community of people who care is quite moving and humbling to realise.
We’re planning some more live events next year, and as a subscriber, you’re going to be the first to hear about them, so stay tuned.
At our events, we also handed out Lamestream Ls of the Year awards. They’re our version of the Walkleys, acknowledging some of the big misses in mainstream media – and celebrating some great work by independent journalists.
In today’s newsletter we’re sharing the nominees and winners of those awards with you.
We would love to hear any ideas or feedback at all, whether it's about the look and feel of it, what you want to read more about from us or how often you'd like to hear from us.
