The ABC will cut 46 jobs in its Screen division, eliminating camera crew, technicians, make-up, wardrobe, and post-production staff who were once the engine room of ABC TV and the envy of the industry.
This is the second major round of redundancies in Hugh Marks' era as Managing Director of the ABC, despite there being no budget cuts from the government.
The first cuts came only three months into Marks' tenure, when he cut 40 permanent positions from digital teams and ended 10 contract roles early. The latest cuts mean the ABC has shed close to 90 content jobs in the 18 months since Marks' arrival.
