One of the peculiar ironies about this election is that even though we've been subjected to one of the least inspiring and interesting campaigns in Australian political history, we're probably still likely to end up with one of the most fascinating parliaments ever.
While mainstream media coverage has largely focused on the headline battle between Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton (with some occasional forays into Teal vs. Liberal seats, no doubt influenced by the geographic proximity to the residences of journalists and editors), there is a massive realignment in politics occurring across the country driven by skyrocketing support for minor parties and independents.
In this edition of the Lamestream newsletter (which we've decided to call The Lamestream) we're going to take a closer look at some of the election contests that haven't gotten as much attention from the national media, but could impact who forms government, and even transform how Australian politics works for the next three years.
If you haven't checked out this week's episode of the Lamestream podcast, you can do so here on Spotify and Apple. We discuss the latest crisis engulfing the ABC, the growing war on Welcome to Country ceremonies and share our election night viewing this guide.
To read the rest of this newsletter you have to be a subscriber to Lamestream. We're currently offering a special, introductory price that works out to just $5 a month, if you subscribe for one year up-front. It's the best way to support our work, and guarantee access to our news and analysis.
