When we launched Lamestream back in April 2025, we took a pretty big risk.
We hoped that there would be enough people in Australia willing to not only listen to a completely independent weekly show covering the media and current affairs, but that some of them would become subscribers and help us make Lamestream financially viable.
We weren’t sure if it would work, and had factored in that we might have to shut the whole thing down in 6 months.
The good news is that thanks to our subscribers, Lamestream hasn’t just been able to survive, we’ve been able to thrive and grow, reaching tens of thousands of people every month. Subscribers are how we pay our producers, our video editors and our hosting fees.
But we want to do more. We want to create more Lamestream content, write more stories and reach more people (we also don’t currently earn a living wage from Lamestream, something that we would love to do).
To do that, we need more subscribers. That’s why today, to celebrate our upcoming 1st birthday, we’re launching a subscriber drive.
Between now and April 24, our goal is to sign up 500 new subscribers.
Everyone who subscribes during this drive goes in the running to win one of 12 Lamestream merch prize packs – and one new subscriber will get the chance to jump on a private video call with us to talk about the show, our work, the topics we discuss, and anything else happening in the world.
